Title of the Project: Documentation of Faunal Diversity of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary with special reference to lesser-known forms.

Project Investigator: Choudhury Saugot

Project objectives:

1. To gather baseline data on the faunal diversity of the sanctuary.

2. To record and map distribution of the species and study threats to them and their habitats.

Project Update (June 2007):

The team is conducting preliminary survey in the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary and has been successful in identifying 8 species of amphibians, 8 species of lizards, 9 species of snakes, 60 species of birds and 10 species of mammals among vertebrates. The team also found about 20 species of butterflies in the sanctuary.
