Aaranyak Small Grants for Nature Conservation in Northeast India

2006 Grant Winners

The grants selection committee has selected the following applications for funding during 2006-2007 based on merit and need of the proposal. More than 30 applications were received during this round. Many quality proposals could not be funded as the scope of this grant programme is limited.

II. Seed Grants
1	Das Chatrapati	Distribution and status of Otters in western Assam.
2	Hazarika Nirupam	Economic Valuation of Elephant Conservation in Golaghat District, Assam.
3	Kalita Dhrubajyoti	Improving communication skills among teachers to generate environmental awareness among students.
4	Choudhury Saugot	Documentation of Faunal Diversity of the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary with special reference to lesser-known forms.
III. Student Grants
1	Fakay Sam	A detailed study of Butterfly diversity and its ecology in and around Dehing-Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary.
2	Saikia Bhaskar	To study the habits and habitats of globally threatened Greater Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos dubius) along with their density in Greater Guwahati.
3	Singha Alokika	A Study on habitat and diversity of winter avifauna in Dheer beel, Assam using GIS and remote sensing.
IV. Rapid Response Grants
1	Early Birds	Cattle Vaccination around Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary and Nameri National Park, Assam.
2	Nature�s Foster	Monitoring Gharial and awareness among communities in Jinjiram valley, Assam.
V. Other Initiatives
1	Aaranyak	See it to believe it: Kaziranga Experiances for Angami Naga Tribe, Nagaland.
